Description

Angel Cottage is an ancient farm building/smithy lovingly converted to a comfortable, spacious centrally heated holiday home in a beautiful setting near the village of Oswaldkirk and 3 miles from the picturesque town of Helmsley.

It retains pine beams and York stone floors in the kitchen and living room and has reclaimed pinewood floors in the bedrooms. The interior has been specially designed for ease of use for anyone who has mobility difficulties or uses a wheelchair.

The approach is a hard level stone surface; the front door and all other doors are wide enough for a wheelchair. There are no steps or ramps on the approach to the front door. There is a flagged level path around the cottage and a small paved terrace area.

There is a good -sized garden overlooking the panoramic view across farmland and woodland to the moors. There is a single garage adjoining the cottage, containing barbecue, tumble dryer and garden furniture.

The cottage is available for £480 per week; short breaks are possible. The price includes all fuel and electricity and all bed linen (except cot linen) and towels. The cottage is strictly non-smoking. Fully house-trained pets are welcome.

Room Specifications

In the large living room there are two comfortable high backed chairs and a leather sofa with reclining seats at either end. There is a television, DVD/video recorder, mini hi-fi equipment, games, jigsaw puzzles and books for rainy days. There is a play gallery for children overlooking the living room which is reached by a loft ladder from the kitchen. The kitchen is well - equipped with gas hob and oven, microwave, fridge with ice box, and washing machine.

There are two bedrooms; the larger contains a double bed and an Adjustamatic single bed, the other two single beds. If required there are cones for raising bed. A cot is available on request.

There is a wheel-in shower and toilet with adjustable shower chair, a grab rail and showerhead on a flexible hose. The controls are positioned low. The toilet is raised on a two inch plinth and has retractable arms on each side. It has space for a wheelchair on either side.

Area Information

It is near to a wealth of attractions, including Castle Howard and the Yorkshire moors. The ancient city of York and the beaches of Scarborough are easily reached. There is a sports centre and swimming pool just 5 minutes drive away.
