Disabled Holidays in Guelder (Gelderland)

Guelder or 'Gelderland' as the Dutch say, is one of the eastern provinces of Holland, bordering Germany. Gelderland is home to one of the largest national parks of The Netherlands 'De Veluwe', which covers an area of around 1100 square kilometers (approx. 424 sq. miles). Shaped by ice, this national parks knows a variety of landscapes including large areas of woodland, heath, small lakes and the largest sand drifts in Europe.

Although there is some very slight hills and increases, there is large parts of the Veluwe which are mainly flat. This combined with the Dutch love for bikes, which has resulted in miles of well maintained bicycle trails in addition to the paved walking trails, means de Veluwe is a very accessible holiday option for those who might be wheelchair bound. In addition to the abundance of nature, Gelderland also houses 4 zoos, a royal palace and more than 50 museums, including some famed modern art museums.
