Set on eleven acres of rolling farmland and woodland, and provides some real treats for nature lovers. Guests can visit the two sheep paddocks, a designated wildlife habitat, wildlife pond, spruce woodland, and rare ancient gill woodland. All of this is accessible via a wheelchair-friendly nature trail. There is plenty of parking available on-site. You will also get to meet Charlie, the resident cat, and a brood of chickens (Maude, Gertie and Florence, who lay eggs every day, perfect for a breakfast omelette).
For local entertainment, there is a cinema in Uckfield, and pubs/restaurants in nearby Nutley and Forest Row. Brighton and Eastbourne are close in the car.
Nutley is a village on the A22 about a mile from the cottages. It has two excellent restaurants (Italian and Indian), a convenience store, petrol garage and charming antique shop. The Nutley Arms used to be the village pub until it was converted into a licensed café – now it’s a great place to go for breakfast!
Forest Row is about 5 miles drive from cottages. The village dates back to the 11th century when the King built hunting lodges there so he could hunt in the Ashdown Forest. Today Forest Row is a busy, charming village with tea rooms, coffee shops and nice places to go for lunch.
If you fancy a day at the seaside, then Brighton and Eastbourne are nearby too (both less than an hours drive).Information last updated: 13/02/2023 10:01:06
