Travelling with a medical condition or disability

Always consider if the climate/terrain you are going to is suitable for your level of fitness.
Consider purchasing some medical alert jewellery – there are many types available.
If you are going to a non English speaking country why not consider having a letter translated which explains your medical condition.
If you would like to be in a resort close to a medical centre then please let your supplier know..

I need help getting to and onto the aircraft – can this be arranged?

Airport assistance should ideally be arranged in advance. Assistance can be provided from the check in desk straight through to escort you to the aircraft. Assistance with boarding can be provided upon making your reservation. At selected airports on board hoists can be arranged to assist you into your seat.

What do I do with my medication?

We recommend that you take sufficient medication on board with you for the first couple of days of your holiday. This will ensure if their are any unexpected delays you will have enough medication to cover this time. We advise you to take a prescription detailing all of your medication being carried - it is important to know different countries have different rules surrounding medication. If in doubt please check with you doctor or travel clinic. As there are currently restrictions on taking liquids through security, they may test any liquid medication you are taking onto the aircraft so remember to check in early!

Can I take my wheelchair overseas?

You can arrange with airlines free transportation of a manual collapsible wheelchair. You can stay in your chair up to boarding the gate and it will then be stored in the aircraft's hold, alternatively you can check your wheelchair in with your bags and use an airport wheelchair to the aircraft. For the transit of electric wheelchairs and scooters we recommend you speak to the airline.

I need an accommodation that offers disability equipment in my accommodation

We list many purpose built properties that have adaptations with a wheelchair user in mind, these include wheel in showers, grab rails, shower chairs, electric beds, hoists. Where these are not fitted as standard you or your agent can hire them in to offer more accessibility. 

I need oxygen on the aircraft and while in resort - is this available?

There are various rules and regulations relating to the carriage and oxygen on planes. In many resorts there are suppliers where you can pre arrange in advance.

What happens if I am ill while on holiday?

Generally there are various medical facilities in and around resorts these can vary dependent on destination. We strongly advise you to take our travel insurance to cover your health abroad as the closest medical facility may be private and involve costs for treatment that you may be able to recover through your insurance policy. What happens if I am running out of my medication while overseas?

We recommend that you take adequate medication to cover your holiday whilst also allowing extra for unexpected eventualities. It is advisable to take a copy of your prescription / list of all of your medication including amounts, should you loose or run out of it whilst overseas. Please note medication brand names may vary from country to country. Should you run out of medication you will need to contact a local pharmacy or health centre immediately who will advise further action.
