  1. DISABLED HOLIDAY EXPERTS – Choose a travel agent that specialises in providing accessible holidays. To ensure information is reliable, agents should undergo regular in-depth training to understand the needs of all kinds of disability.
  2. ACCESSIBLE GUARANTEE - If you need disabled adapted accommodation or any other special facilities make sure you choose a travel agency that can guarantee your requirements and not just request them.
  3. RESEARCH – The shocking truth is that many travel agents neglect research. Most agents have some knowledge about the destination you want to visit and this can lead them to overlook the need for proper research. Travel agents should ensure that any destination is suitable for your disability and check that nothing has changed recently that might affect your holiday such as a broken lift or building work. We can't emphasize enough that up to date research is especially important for disabled travellers.
  4. EMERGENCY HELPLINE – Travel agents should give you a 24hr emergency contact telephone number to help you sort out any unexpected problems. This important service also buys you peace of mind while you are away from the support services you might use at home.
  5. MEDICAL INFORMATION – Make sure they provide you with information about the location of chemists and doctors surgeries (english speaking if available), how to contact emergency services and where you can get help specific to your disability.
  6. INFORMATION PACK – Choose a travel agent that provides a detailed information pack on your holiday destination including entertainment, excursions and local attractions plus where to find shops, bars, restaurants, etc. You should be able to plan everything about your holiday before you go.
  7. GOES THE EXTRA MILE Find a travel agent that will work hard to help you if you have a special need. For example, you might want to be able to return home early if your condition flares up. Your travel agent should be able to make this happen for you without delay.
  8. FINANCIAL PROTECTION - Check that they protect your money in a separate bank account for the purpose of paying for your holiday. Preferably an account they cannot dip into for any other reason except to use your money for the purpose intended. Make sure the travel agency you are booking with is fully bonded for your protection. TTA, ABTA or ATOL protection should be included in your holiday for no extra charge.
  9. INTEGRITY - The price you see is the price you pay. Some travel agents quote a cheap price to draw you in because they know many people give up searching for a better deal once they have committed their time to a travel agent. Help us stop this deception - choose a different company!
  10. HONESTY - They are honest about their knowledge of a specific resort/area/hotel. Even travel agents with many years of experience are unlikely to know everything about your chosen destination. If they admit they need to research your holiday then you know you will get the best and up to date advice.
  11. INSURANCE CHECKS – Your travel agent should check that you are properly insured to reclaim cancellation charges. Cancelling a holiday can be expensive and your travel agent cannot protect you from tour operators who have excessive cancellation charges.
